cropping an image, output image distorted

Postby esr1 » 18 Nov 2016, 21:12

I have a 1920x1080i video that I need to render only a 1005x1080 section of, by cropping 850 from the left and 65 from the right. All appears correct when I view the video prior to encoding, both on the Input side and the Output side. But the resulting processed video includes image on the left that should have been cropped, and it is horizontally squeezed as well.

From the project settings you emailed me I can tell that the problem is with the "Current" size setting in the export size dialog.
Try setting a custom size 1005x1080 in the export dialog and check “preserve aspect ratio”. Any scaling mode will do.

Your suggestion of a custom size in export, along with a "preserve aspect ratio” did the trick!! Thanks!

I’ll fix the bug in v4.0.
I think I'd best use the presentation mode of the movie (which you can set in QT Player 7 Pro) and default to clean (if aperture modes are present) or classical.
Result always has square pixels and no clip.
