8969 Error

8969 Error

Postby esr1 » 16 May 2012, 13:53

I am finally converting some old Dr Who VHS tapes to digital. JES video cleaner was working great, but after capturing the next batch of tapes it stopped working with error "(de)compression error -8969."

I am capturing the tapes with a composite device, iGrabber, as mpeg-4 files. I capture 5, 6 hour tapes and then run JVC on each one. I was successful for 5 tapes and with the 2nd batch begin getting the -8969 error. I tried removing the preference and log files and reinstalling to no effect. I can open the captured iGrabber file in QT.

I am using Mac OS 10.7.4, OT 10.1, and JVC 1.4.3.

Is JVC compatible with mpeg-4, OT 10.1? Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Unfortunately it looks like JVC cannot open movies on 10.7.4.
I haven't worked on the program for three years now.
My advice is: if you want to keep using JVC don't upgrade to 10.7.4 for the time being.

I have uploaded a fix for the -8969 error on Lion 10.7.4.
This version 1.4.4a2 is largely untested. Let me know if you find bugs.
The original version 1.4.3 is still available for users of 10.7.3 and down.
